This project maximizes available space by stepping out towards the street. This two bedroom ADU will add 1,200 square feet to a multi-family property in Culver City. The project is confined by a tight zoning envelope and the need to preserve parking. A desire for privacy on the ground floor required elevated windows while a roof deck provides a full floor green space and views of the surrounding hills.
The Oakland Symphony Orchestra Shell is a new acoustical shell for the Paramount Theater in Oakland CA. The shell's design will complement and enhance the art deco national historic landmark theater it sits within. The design straddles the line between historic resonance and contemporary dynamism and will provide a superior acoustical environment to support the orchestra.
This project is a writing room for a filmmaker and poet in Los Angeles. Situated midway up a steep hill just above the main house the building engages multiple spaces and levels within the yard. A single room and powder room, it is enclosed by the curved wrapper of the exterior walls and crowned with a rooftop deck surrounded by an expressive parapet. The building engages with the site and surrounding landscape while transporting the viewer into a dream like space.
